Published in London by Macmillan and Co., Limited in 1914, this is the First Edition of Hardy’s important collection of poetry.
Bound in the original green cloth with the distinctive gilt circular TH monogram and floral medallion to the front board.
The collection includes Lyrics and Reveries, Satires of Circumstance, Poems of 1912–13 and other miscellaneous pieces, representing an important period in Hardy’s poetic work.
This copy shows considerable age-related wear. The cloth has rubbing, fading and marks, with wear particularly noticeable around the spine ends and edges. The pages show age toning, edge wear and occasional marks.
There are also handwritten pencil annotations to some of the text, clearly visible in the photographs. These have been left untouched as part of the book’s previous history.

Despite the condition issues, this remains an original 1914 First Edition of an important Thomas Hardy poetry collection and an appealing copy for collectors of Hardy, early 20th-century literature and English poetry.
