1934 IDEAL SHIRLEY TEMPLE + MADAM ALEXANDER COMPOSITION SLEEPY EYES DOLLS For Sale

This is a most rare Antique Shirley Temple \"Sleepy Eyes” Doll. Her hair, dress, undergarment, and shoes are all present. Her lip & mouth paint is vivid & intact, and the eyes open and close as they should. She measures approximately 18” tall. I think her eyes are blue, but please see photos. The back of her neck is marked, \"COP. IDEAL N&T CO.”.

Ideal stamped its earliest batches this way because they rushed the doll to market in late 1934 just as they were formalizing the licensing contract with the Temple family.The abbreviationN&T(orN.&T. Co.) stands forNovelty & Toy, which was part of the company\'s full legal name before they officially changed it to the Ideal Toy Corporation.

Also included is a Madam Alexander\"Sleepy Eyes” Doll. Her dress is present. Her lip paint is vivid & intact, and the eyes open and close as they should. She measures approximately 16” tall. I think her eyes are brown, but please see photos. The back of her neck is marked,“Alexander”.
