Ok, I know little about violins so I did not put strings on this.I updated the pictures, taking some outside to show more detail.
A 4/4 Violin, 14\" body & 23.5\" overall - in rather nice condition considering its ageThe bow is 29 3/8 overall, no makers mark, the hose hair fell victim to my Gibson SG in the 1970sThe bridge has no makers name on itThere are wear marks on the body, where the bridge restsThere is a label inside with wear on it , it says \"Frank F ***** Westbrook Me 1936The sting pegs turn freelyThe tail piece is nice, with sort of a mother of pearl inlayThe fingerboard has marks on it. It appears the strings sit tight against it?The hard shell case looks older and has been painted goldThere is a set of Black Diamond stings
My father was from East Livermore Maine, north of Westbrook. He played this in grade school in the 1940s.This most likely has not been played in over 75 years.It has always been stored in an atmosphere controlled environment ( heat - cooling - humidity )
The label inside is worn. I do not know why. Frank F Brown is the only Maker in Westbrook I could find in this era.
