Very rare horse racing press photo of the great Seabiscuit that is stamped April 23, 1936 on the back. What makes this special is that this is from when he was owned by Wheatley Stable (before trainer Tom Smith and owner Charles Howard) and he was only a minor stakes horse at the time, so there are very few photos of him until the end of 1936 and then into 1937 when he turned into a star. This photo has been authenticated by PSA as an original news service photo by Acme Newspictures and is a Type 1 photo, meaning it\'s a first generation photo from the original negative within two years of the photo being taken, and in this case it would have been a matter of days from when the photo was taken because of the stamp on the back showing when it was received or filed. Seabiscuit was racing at Jamaica in New York during April and May 1936 so that\'s likely where this was taken. The photo itself is 7\"x9\" and the sealed case is about 10\"x13\". The photo has some minor wear around the edges but overall is in great condition. Please note on the back where it looks like there is some staining or water damage, that is just from the plastic case pressing up against the photo.
