1945 Republic of China (ROC) Chiang Kai-shek “Restore Our Homeland” Commemorative Badge
Offered for sale is an unusual Chinese Nationalist commemorative pin badge associated with the Republic of China and the post-World War II period.
The badge features a central portrait of Chiang Kai-shek in military uniform, flanked by Nationalist Chinese white-sun emblems, dark blue enamel, and red enamel accents.
The Chinese inscription on the front reads:
還我河山 — “Restore Our Rivers and Mountains” / “Restore Our Homeland.”
The reverse bears a Chinese inscription referencing Nationalist troops entering Northeast China, along with the date 1945.
Historical background:
Following Japan's surrender in August 1945, Chinese Nationalist forces sought to reestablish control over territories previously occupied by Japan, including Manchuria (Northeast China).
This commemorative badge reflects the nationalist themes and political-military symbolism of that period.
A matching badge type was documented in Baldwin's Hong Kong Coin sale 57, Lot 558, August 21, 2014. The National Museum of Taiwan History also holds an example of this design.
