Extremely rare \"official\" team signed 1950 Colleen Lassies and Springfield Sallies signed AAGPBL baseball with Shirley Sutherland, Barbara Liebrich, Doris \"Cookie\" Cook, Betty Jane \"Curly\" Cornett, Laura \"Smokey\" Mandella, Joanne McComb, Ruth Middleton, Joan Sindelar, Eunice Taylor, Terry Rukavina, Gloria Schweigerdt, Joan Schatz, Midalin Perez, Toni Palermo, Helen Ketola, Gertrude Alderfer, Agnes Allen, Mary A. Moore, Audrey Deamer, Patricia Brown, Francis \"Bebop\" Vukavich, Fern Battaglia, and \"Arizona\" (who may be Beatrice Ethel Schuller from Arizona!). Team signed balls from this era are rarely made available on the market and the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown has only a handful of official team balls from this era on display or in their inventory. The baseballs in 1950 were 11-inch spheres, having started out with 12 inch in 1943. Barbara Liebrich served as the Springfield Sallies\' team\'s manager and chaperone. The two teams were referred to as the \"traveling or rookie teams\" and often played exhibitions in Chicago and around the country, and in 1950, those tours took place between June and September. The teams played in a three-inning exhibition game at Yankee Stadium in August of 1950 in front of Phillies manager- the famous Connie Mack, becoming the first women to every play baseball in Yankee Stadium. Yankee players served as umpires during the exhibition game and one of the AAGPBL players (Toni Palermo) was offered Phil Rizzuto\'s glove for use during the game. As an interesting sidenote, Joe DiMaggio was benched for the first time in his career by Casey Stengel in the Yankees-Philadelphia A\'s game which followed the exhibition game.
