• This diecast model replicates the 1968 Lotus-Ford Type 49 (No. 16), as driven by F1 driver Jo Siffert for Rob Walker Racing, during the Grand Prix of Spain at Jerez
• Features: Rotating brake discs (front and rear), sophisticated steering mechanism, suspension system (w/detailed hydraulic hoses (front and rear), removable airbox (exposing polished velocity stacks), radiators in photo-etch, individually-cast exhaust headers, detailed cockpit (w/suede-like seat and fabric seat-belts with metal hardware), fully-wired and plumbed Renault V10 engine, intricate engine bay (w/genuine aluminum heat shields, accurate pipes, hydraulic hoses, wires and more), removable diecast cowling, simulated carbon-fiber chassis, superb 11-step paint finish, and hand-assembled from over 350 precision scaled parts
• The Lotus 49 was a Formula One racing car designed by Colin Chapman and Maurice Philippe for the 1967 F1 season. It was one of the first F1 cars to use a stressed member engine combined with a monocoque to reduce weight, after BRM, with other teams adopting the concept after its success. An iteration of it, the 49B, adopted, after Ferrari, the use of strutted aerofoils to generate downforce. In 1968, Jo Siffert raced the same Lotus 49 (49/R2) that Jim Clark had driven during the most part of 1967. The car was painted in the famous blue and white colors of Rob Walker Racing. The team was a very successful independent operation in the days when private teams could still be competitive. Rob Walker, owner of the TWT team and heir to the vast Johnny Walker Scotch whisky fortune, had the first and only private team to ever defeat factory supported teams in World Championship Grand Prix racing! Rob Walker Racing did this nine times between 1958 and 1968 with such well known drivers as Stirling Moss, Jo Siffert, Jo Bonnier and Maurice Trintignant.
