Vintage 1971 carved redwood Animal Woodblock designed by celebrated California mid-century designer Evelyn Ackerman. Featuring a wonderfully stylized walrus rendered in deep bas-relief, this piece belongs to Ackerman’s series of 20 Animal Woodblocks produced and marketed by ERA Industries and Panelcarve/Forms+Surfaces. The series was exhibited as part of California Design XI at the Pasadena Art Museum. Thick solid redwood construction with beautifully carved dimensional detailing and warm aged finish. Vintage condition with age-appropriate wear and patina.
