Driving Video - YouTube Copy and style=\"box-sizing: border-box; margin-block: 0px 0.9rem; font-family: Roboto, sans-serif; font-size: 20px;\">1978 911 SC (Super Carrera) is finished in Schwarz black over a black interior and shows 75,650 original miles. It is believed to have been a California car its entire life, and comes with California blue plates from its previous registration. It holds a clean California title.

The previous owner, a wealthy businessman, babied this car for decades and primarily had it serviced at PR’s Autohaus of Lodi. I personally purchased it from his son after he passed. The car comes with all original parts, including the spare tire and door pockets, along with service records dating back to 2008.

The car runs and drives excellently, with no smoke or strange sounds on startup and excellent oil pressure. All lights and gauges are operational. There is no rust and no known accidents. The paint and body are excellent with no scratches, just some rock chips as you’d expect on a driver-quality car of this age.

Under previous ownership, in 2008, at 72,029 miles, PR’s Autohaus performed an inspection, a major service, and the timing chain tensioner update. The timing chain tensioner update is the most important update an SC can receive, since it addresses the model’s best-known weak point.

  • Major service per the Porsche schedule: valve cover gasket set, breather plate gasket, air filter strap, the correct V-belt, two plug wire connectors, and an oil and filter change.

  • Pressure-fed timing chain tensioner upgrade (930 105 911 912 kit).

  • Intake manifold removed and resealed: new manifold gaskets, injector seals, holders, O-rings, all 6 intake boots, a breather hose, an oil pressure sender, an oil thermostat O-ring, and the engine soundpad.

  • A/C compressor and condenser removed at the owner’s request.

In 2021, at 74,928 miles, PR’s Autohaus replaced the fuel hoses.

Over the last year, I have performed the following:

At 75,212 miles:

  • Front calipers restored and rebuilt, with new brake rotors and pads.

  • Brake fluid flushed with Porsche-correct brake fluid.

  • Brake light switches on the master cylinder replaced.

  • Oil and filter changed using Porsche 10W-60 oil and a Porsche filter.

  • Full rebuild and restoration of the pedal assembly, including all new bushings, springs, clutch arm, and clevis.

At 75,384 miles (7/16/2026):

  • New fuel accumulator, which fixed a hot start issue.

  • New air filter (BCM).

  • Gearbox oil replaced with Swepco 201 80W-90.

  • Replaced the steering column bushing, flasher relay, shift rod coupler, shift rod guide bushing, and gear shift lever ball socket.

This is a low-mileage, long-term-owned, documented 911 SC that’s ready to enjoy.
