I purchased this 1985 Porsche 911 Carrera Targa on January 11, 1999 with 81,888 miles. More than 27 years later, the odometer shows approximately 106,000 miles — approximately 24,000 miles during my ownership.

This is not a Porsche I recently acquired to resell. I have driven, maintained, shown and enjoyed it for more than a quarter century. I am a longtime Porsche Club of America member, two-time PCA Region President and former PCA HPDE instructor. The Carrera has participated in instructional, non-competitive PCA HPDE events during my ownership; it has not been raced during my ownership.

This is an enthusiast-owned, driver-quality air-cooled 911 rather than a concours restoration. It is rust free, presents very well and has been maintained with mechanical reliability taking priority over cosmetic perfection.

The car has been refinished in its original Prussian Blue Metallic using a modern two-stage base/clear finish. The paint received professional correction and detailing in 2025.

Major Mechanical History

At approximately 94,000 miles, the Porsche received substantial documented mechanical work including top-end engine work with valve-guide service, clutch replacement and transmission work including synchronizer service.

Additional documented maintenance and improvements during my ownership include Bilstein suspension components, steering work, brake service and stainless-steel brake lines, a short-shift kit, injector-seal replacement, steering-column work, extensive air-conditioning service and a professionally rebuilt Targa top.

More recently, the car received fresh Yokohama ADVAN Sport V105 tires, a new AGM battery in June 2026 and additional air-conditioning service. The A/C blows cold. The original A/C compressor is retained.

Known mechanical item: The cruise control is currently inoperative.

Two Complete Sets of Genuine Forged Fuchs

The sale includes two complete sets of genuine forged Porsche Fuchs wheels.

Factory-correct 15-inch Carrera Fuchs:
7Jx15 front
8Jx15 rear

Currently installed 16-inch genuine forged Fuchs:
Sourced from a 1986 Porsche 944 Turbo and fitted with appropriate rear spacers. These wheels wear the fresh Yokohama ADVAN Sport V105 tires.

Both complete Fuchs sets are included with the car.

Interior & Targa Top

Much of the interior remains original. The original Blue leather on the front seats is worn and the seat cushions have softened with age. Tailored cloth seat covers are currently installed. The original upholstery underneath can be examined directly during an inspection.

The dashboard has age-related cracks beneath a permanently installed dash cover. The original steering wheel has been professionally re-stitched.

The Targa top has been professionally rebuilt, including the exterior covering, seals and headliner.

The interior is presented honestly as that of a well-cared-for driver, not a cosmetically restored concours car.

Prior Damage & Title History — Full Disclosure

I want prospective buyers to understand this part of the Porsche\'s history before purchasing the car or traveling to Florida to inspect it.

Prior to my ownership, the car sustained front-body damage in a reported deer strike. Records from the 1997–1998 repair period include Porsche OEM replacement-parts invoices. The car subsequently received an Illinois Rebuilt Title.

I purchased the Porsche on January 11, 1999 with full knowledge of that history and only after having a professional Porsche pre-purchase inspection performed.

The Porsche is currently titled in Missouri. The current Missouri title is Mileage Exempt because of the vehicle\'s age.

I have now owned the car for more than 27 years and personally driven it approximately 24,000 miles during that time.

The prior damage and title history are being disclosed clearly so a prospective buyer can evaluate the car with full knowledge of its history. Buyers are welcome and encouraged to have the previous repair areas examined as part of an independent pre-purchase inspection and lift inspection.

This Porsche is not represented as a concours car. It is a highly documented, enthusiast-owned driver that has been maintained and enjoyed.

Known imperfections include wear to the original front-seat leather, softened front-seat cushions, dashboard cracks beneath the installed cover, an inoperative cruise control and normal cosmetic imperfections appropriate to a 41-year-old Porsche that has been driven rather than stored as a museum piece.

At the same time, the car remains rust free, mechanically well maintained and cosmetically attractive. It is being presented with its strengths, imperfections and history disclosed as clearly as possible.

I would rather disclose an imperfection before a prospective buyer arrives than have someone discover it afterward.
