19th Century Antique English Tunbridge Tea Caddy, with the lid inlaid with the "Tumbling Blocks" pattern. It is unusual to have the tumbling blocks in a variety of exotic wood samples. Made in Tunbridge Wells, circa 1860.
Includes Key, locking mechanism appears to engage but I was afraid to lock it because I did not want to take a chance that it would not unlock. Measures Depth 4.25 x Width 5.5 × Height 4.25
There is some wear to the box, variations and dryness in wood, the base has some type of paper with a design on it that has torn, based on what I can see - it is only the paper that is torn - No cracks are in the wood on the base.
