At The End Of 1933, The Italian Savoia Marchetti Aircraft Company Began Designing A Three Engine, Eight Sleeper Passenger Plane. This "Hump" Was Originally Designed To Accommodate Forward And Backward Firing Machine Guns And Protect The Shooter From The Impact Of Air Currents. It Adopted A Layout Of Three Engines, Which Was Not Common Among Bombers At That Time, Between Twin Engine And Four Engine. SM.79 Performed Well In Terms Of Speed At That Time. After Being Equipped With A More Powerful Engine, Its Speed Can Reach Over 430 Kilometers Per Hour And Its Maximum Range Is About 1900 Kilometers. In Summary, The Savoia Marchetti SM.79 "Sparviero" Bomber Is A Distinctive And Historically Significant Aircraft. It Successfully Transformed From A Civilian Airliner To A Military Versatile Fighter And Found Its Best Position In The Torpedo Bombing Field, Becoming An Indispensable Air Force For Italy During World War II.
