Appearance & swatch detail: Raw, not in a holder. The swatch is a circular piece of gold Lakers jersey knit, single colour, with no stripe, seam, letter, number or logo, set into a die-struck ring on the right side of the card. Corners are sharp, edges are clean, the surface shows no creasing or scratching, and centring is good front and back. The serial 098/399 on the reverse is crisply printed.
Worth knowing: Serial 098/399 verified against the card in hand. This is the entry point into the Threads Kobe relic run -- the same card exists in far shorter Prime and Century Proof parallels -- and it is the most accessible of the group without giving up the gold swatch or the design.
Player career: Bryant was taken 13th overall in 1996 straight out of Lower Merion High School and traded to the Lakers, where he spent all twenty of his seasons. He won five championships (2000, 2001, 2002, 2009 and 2010), the 2008 regular season MVP, and back-to-back Finals MVP awards in 2009 and 2010. He was an eighteen-time All-Star and four-time All-Star Game MVP, won two scoring titles, scored 81 points against Toronto in January 2006 and 60 in his final game in 2016, and took Olympic gold with the United States in 2008 and 2012. He finished with 33,643 career points.
