2022: The Upgrade to Uconnect 5

The 2022 model year heralded a major technological leap with the introduction of the Uconnect 5 system. While housed in the same 12-inch display, the new system offered significantly enhanced performance and features:

• Wireless Connectivity: The most significant upgrade was the introduction of wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, eliminating the need for a cable.

• Enhanced Features: The system brought an improved user interface, Alexa "In-Vehicle" Assistant, and over-the-air update capabilities for maps and software.

• Improved Customization: It allows for the creation of multiple user profiles that save individual preferences for climate, music, and vehicle settings.

The 12-inch touchscreen was a premium feature primarily found on upper-level trims across the 2020-2022 model years.

Ram 1500:

• 2020-2021: Standard on the Limited and Laramie Longhorn trims. It was a popular available option on the Laramie and Rebel models, and in some cases, could be optioned on the Big Horn.

• 2022: Standard on the Limited and Laramie trims. It was widely available as an option on the Big Horn, Rebel, and Limited Longhorn.

Ram 2500:

• 2020-2021: Standard on the top-tier Limited trim. It was available as an option on the Laramie, Laramie Longhorn, and in some packages for the Big Horn.

• 2022: Became standard on the Limited and was an available option on most other trims from the Big Horn upward, including Laramie and Limited Longhorn.

While the 12-inch units for the Ram 1500 and 2500 are physically similar, there can be differences in part numbers and software programming, particularly for heavy-duty models equipped with the Cummins diesel engine.
