2021-CC Privy Morgan Dollar 100th Anniversary PCGS MS-70
This coin was struck by the Philadelphia Mint to mark the 100th anniversary of the last Morgan Dollar, minted in 1921. Since the historic Carson City Mint no longer exists, the Philadelphia Mint added a \"CC\" privy mark to this modern issue in tribute — one of two such tribute marks used that year, alongside \"O\" for the also-defunct New Orleans Mint. Additionally, Philadelphia struck a version with no mint mark and Denver and San Francisco each struck their coins bearing \"D\" and \"S\" mint marks respectively. All five versions were limited to a maximum mintage of 175,000 and issued only in a business (uncirculated) strike. The Mint resumed the Morgan Dollar series in 2023, but the CC privy mark has not been used again, making it unique to the 2021 issue. It reproduces George T. Morgan\'s original design but is struck in .999 fine silver rather than the original 90% silver alloy. This example has been certified PCGS MS-70, indicating a flawless strike with no detectable imperfections under standard magnification.
