This is the iconic Pikachu 227/S-P Full Art Promo card from the Japanese Sword & Shield S-P Promotional series, released as part of the Pokemon Stamp Box collaboration with Japan Post on August 25, 2021. It is professionally graded PSA 10 Gem Mint, the highest possible grade.

Set Background: This card was available exclusively through the Pokemon Stamp Box set, a special collaboration between The Pokemon Company and Japan Post to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the Japanese Postal Service. The box was available via pre-order from the Japan Post website starting July 26, 2021, at participating post offices, and at the 2021 Japan World Stamp Championship Exhibition in Yokohama. Distribution was conducted through a lottery system, with winners permitted to purchase a single box for ¥4,000 with matching photo ID. Alongside Cramorant 226/S-P, this Pikachu was packaged as a pair in the Stamp Box.

Art & Design: The illustration by legendary illustrator Mitsuhiro Arita pays homage to the 17th-century nikuhitsu-ga painting "Beauty Looking Back" by Hishikawa Moronobu, a classic piece of ukiyo-e art. The original painting resides at the Tokyo National Museum and was previously used on Japanese stamps issued in 1948. The artwork was also featured on the actual postage stamps included in the Stamp Box set, making this card a unique fusion of postal history and Pokemon culture. This full-art design features Pikachu in a patterned kimono, looking back over its shoulder, with a distinctive traditional Japanese aesthetic appeal. As the mascot of the Pokemon franchise, Pikachu in this cultural art style makes this card exceptionally desirable among collectors.
