Frederick Douglass (1818–1895), legendary abolitionist, author, newspaper editor, and statesman whose writings and speeches made him one of the most influential voices of the nineteenth century. Born into slavery in Maryland, Douglass escaped bondage in 1838 and rose to international prominence as a leading advocate for emancipation, equal rights, and social reform. He later served in several federal appointments.
Partly-printed deed signed clearly by Douglass at the conclusion in ink. In good condition, with some tearing at the folds. However, it is best displayed closed anyways. Light toning from age.
