This ESP32 Plane Radar (I call it \"Poor Man ATC\") is a neat small desktop unit that connects to your home Wifi and reads data from adsb.fi website and shows air traffic in the area of your desired location.
The airplanes are shown on 1.28\" round LCD screen with your choice of radius to be seen in km (5-10-15-25) or miles (3-6-9-16).Markers on the screen show registration number for small GA airplanes or flight number for commercial airplanes, airplane type, altitude and direction.Data are refreshed every 5sec.The software is based on MatixYo/ESP32-Plane-Radar and can be modified/altered.
You can input any location that you want to watch, not just just directly above you, for example I was watching traffic in Oshkosh during their EAA Venture week. Pretty cool to see L39 flying together with P51 and B17.
The housing is my design, printed in ABS-like resin for accuracy and betterfinishand heat resistance than PETG/PLA. Front screen is secured with M2 SS screws forindustrial look. TPU feet are mounted for soft touch and can be removed.
I hate when the electronic components are getting hot and these ESP32 boards without any cooling were rising to 80 even over 90 °C so I added small 5V fan that is powered from and cools the ESP32 board and keeps it at around 50 °C or so.
