Absolutely amazing, stunning, unique, and rare piece of medical history. Here we have an antique embalming syringe. This is a very large medical needle (32 inches from needle tip to handle tip). Needle is retractable and has a cover that is a duller, thicker, and less lethal.
The needle cover is removable as seen in photos, but stays on the needle loosely when the needle is pushed out. If you want the cover to remain in place, you might want to mount it accordingly, or possibly add a bit of tape and remove it when you want to view the sharper, inner needle. Needle cover only stays on when the inner needle is pushed out. The wooden handle works and is also retractable. Pushing the handle into the syringe pushes the inner needle out. The inner needle will have to be manually pushed back into the syringe if desired.
The piece itself is in excellent condition for its age. The needle parts are shiny and straight. The entire piece shows some lovely antique wear, which gives it more charm. Looks like there was a manufacturer sticker on the side of the syringe at one point, but that is now gone.
I can\'t find any other examples of these online, so this is an extremely rare collector\'s item. Would be great for someone who loves antique medial history, collects antique and vintage embalming or funerary equipment, or someone who just loves dark oddities.
