A great early American oil lantern with pierced designs, removable base, fixed globe, glass font and the brass burner wick adjuster is marked
\"J. Sangster Patent March 25th 1862\".
Total height with handle is approx. 15.5\". To bottom of the ring is 12\".
Base diameter is 4\". Weight: 2 lbs 10 oz.
NO cracks or damage to the globe, which is thick and heavy glass.
The base has the 2 lugs style closure.
There are no holes or cracks in the base. There is light surface rust on some of the metal but it is all still very strong. Surface age patina as expected.
I have owned this lantern for about 30 years and it\'s just the way I found it in Vermont.
