A superb and substantial original Victorian Sterling Silver Double Albertpocket watch chain, made by George Edward Gee (G.E.G.)of Birmingham and fully hallmarked for 1897.

This is an exceptionally well-marked example. Hallmarks are presentthroughout the entire chain, with Sterling Silver lion passant marks individuallystruck on every link. The fittings also carry original marks, includingthe maker\'s mark and assay/date marks. Please see the detailed close-up photographsshowing the extensive hallmarking.

A particularly desirable feature of this chain is the extraordinary amount oforiginal hallmarking. The chain is marked throughout, including individualSterling Silver lion passant punches on every link.

Additional original hallmarks can be seen on the dog clips, T-bar and othercomponents, including the G.E.G. maker\'s mark for George Edward Gee,Birmingham assay marks and the 1897 date letter.

This extensive hallmarking is beautifully visible in the macro photographs andprovides an excellent record of the chain\'s original Victorian manufacture.

The chain features an elegant alternating pattern of elongated rectangular linksand smaller round connecting links. It retains its traditional Double Albertconfiguration with two swivel dog clips, T-bar and central ring.

At 46.18 grams and approximately 20 inches (50.8 cm)long, it is a substantial and impressive Victorian Sterling Silver watch chain.

Excellent antique condition for its age.This remarkable chain is approximately 129 years old and has survived inexceptionally good condition. The links, fittings, dog clips, T-bar and centralring present beautifully, with only light age-related surface wear and patinaconsistent with genuine antique use.
