Antique1900 Hiteman Iowa Coal Mine Town Martin & Sons Grocer Sign Germany Die-Cut. Excellent condition and vibrancy of color for its age. Hiteman was a coal mining town founded in 1890 that is now a ghost town in Monroe County, Iowa.
What makes it even more rare is that it was a company town in those days with a company store that traded in mining scrip. It couldn\'t have been easy for Martin and his sons to compete. Made in Germany. Distributed and sold by the Charles Lusk Company in Quincy, Illinois. This represents a rare piece of Southern Iowa Mining History. It was purchased as part of a lot in Albia, Iowa over a decade ago and only recently discovered hidden in one of the boxes!
