Antique 19thC English Mochaware Pitcher - Blue Banded Yellowware Jug For Sale

For your consideration is an authentic, early 19th-century English Mochaware (banded yellowware) pitcher. This beautiful piece of utilitarian folk pottery features a classic cream/tan body accented by two wide, vibrant sky-blue slip bands encased by precise, dark brown concentric pinstripes.A standout feature of this jug is the beautifully crafted handle, showcasing elegant, molded foliate leaf terminals where the handle joins the body at both the top and bottom rims—a true indicator of early British craftsmanship.Maker & Authenticity:The pitcher is entirely unmarked, which is common and historically accurate for everyday tavern and kitchenware produced in the Staffordshire region during the mid-1800s. The underside reveals a heavily crazed, recessed, and unglazed wire-cut foot rim confirming its early production date. Condition Report:This item is being sold in as-found antique condition. It displays a wonderful primitive patina with honest signs of its nearly 200-year history:• Widespread, tight glaze crazing across the entire exterior and interior surfaces.• Dark, localized staining/discoloration sitting beneath the glaze inside the bottom of the pitcher.• One minor surface flake/glaze pop on the upper tan slip band (visible in photos).• The structural integrity remains strong with no large structural cracks, spider fractures, or major base/spout chips. Please review all high-resolution photos closely as they serve as the final determinant of cosmetic condition. This piece will be packed securely with professional grade bubble wrap and double-boxed for safe transit. Please note: This item is cross-listed and posted for sale on multiple sites.
