Antique 6.25” Bisque Frozen Charlie Doll Painted Eyes Molded Blond Hair
Description:
A beautifully made antique Frozen Charlie measuring approximately 6.25 inches tall, likely dating to circa 1880–1910. He is a one-piece bisque doll with a finely modeled child’s figure and an especially expressive face.
His blue eyes are painted, with carefully defined eyelids and brows, softly blushed cheeks, and a small, detailed mouth. His short blond hair is molded in distinct waves that continue around the back of his head. The attention to detail extends to his hands, bare feet, tiny toes, and natural-looking body proportions.
Frozen Charlies and Frozen Charlottes were unjointed porcelain dolls made in a range of sizes and styles. This is a particularly fine example, with appealing facial painting and crisp modeling throughout. A molded size number 6 appears on his upper back.
Condition:
Great antique condition overall. I do not see any obvious cracks, repairs, or missing fingers or toes. There are minor age-related marks and some discoloration on the hands and in the molded hair. Writing on the soles appears to be a later notation. Please review all photographs as part of the condition description.
