Beautiful antique Japanese Awaji art pottery vase, attributed to the Sanpei kiln, dating approximately c. 1900–1920.
Small cabinet-size form measuring approximately 4 inches tall, with two applied loop handles and a striking aubergine/mauve-purple crackle glaze.
The underside bears the impressed Sanpei-style flag/kiln mark and “JAPAN.” This mark is associated with earlier Awaji pottery made for export.
