Antique Dunhill Bruyere Shape 60 Patent-Era Estate Tobacco Pipe – Early White Spot
Offered here is a genuinely early Dunhill Bruyere Shape 60, dating to the early patent era of Dunhill production. This is a particularly interesting survivor with early Dunhill nomenclature and a period White Spot stem. The pipe is carries the early Inner Tube patent marking:
INNER TUBE
PAT. No. 5861/12
The stem retains its White Spot and is stamped:
REG. No. 654638These early patent and registered-design markings place this pipe within the formative period of Dunhill production, approximately late 1910s–1920s. Shape 60 is Dunhill\'s classic straight billiard form, and the rich Bruyere finish on this example displays beautiful grain and deep red coloration. The pipe has been thoroughly cleaned. The chamber and airway have been cleaned, the stem has been cleaned and polished, and the briar has been carefully cleaned and polished while preserving the original nomenclature and vintage character.IMPORTANT CONDITION DISCLOSURE
Please examine the photographs carefully.
There is a long crack in the bowl wall beginning at the rim and extending downward along the exterior of the bowl. The crack is clearly photographed and has not been filled, glued, drilled, topped or otherwise structurally altered.
The pipe was evaluated by an experienced professional pipe repairer, who advised that because the briar in this area is thin and worn, attempting a structural repair would not be advisable. I therefore elected to preserve the pipe rather than perform an invasive repair.
The rim also shows wear consistent with the pipe\'s considerable age and use. I have intentionally left it substantially original rather than reshaping or heavily refinishing it.Because of the bowl crack, this pipe is being offered as a vintage collectible in its present condition. No guarantee is made regarding future smoking use.Despite the condition issue, this is a beautiful and historically interesting early Dunhill with excellent collector appeal: Bruyere finish, Shape 60, early 5861/12 patent nomenclature, registered White Spot stem and wonderfully preserved vintage character.A great opportunity to acquire a very early Dunhill.
