Antique Edward Bell Engraving of Lord Horatio Nelson Matted and Framed For Sale

Here is a great Lord Horatio Nelson Engraving done by Edward Bell in 1806 for your buying consideration. Would make a great gift or keep for yourself?

Beautiful engraving capture of Lord Horatio Nelson here. The piece was originally done in 1806. The piece standing on a deck of a ship with a cannon in the background.

Done in black and white. Some minor browning of the matting paper. A slight scratch in the engraving in the lower right corner. Minor spotting in places which just adds to the patina of the piece. Some bubbling to the paper in the bottom right of the piece, not in the area of the image or writing.

The engraving is on old paper, does not appear to be a vintage reproduction. Certainly not a dot matrix piece. Cannot say for certainly whether this is an original 1806 engraving, or an older restrike. We do ask that you be the judge as to the age of this piece before acquiring it.

The piece was matted and framed by J B Bennett & Sons, a famous Scottish gallery., per their label on the back of the piece. That gallery was in business from 1856 to 1938.

Older wood frame with a darker brown/black finish. A white matting around the lithograph. Matting shows a lot of discoloration. The glass is intact over the lithograph no cracks or blistering. Backing paper is pretty much not in place. The hanging wire is in place. The engraving is loose in the frame as some of the tacking nails holding together are no longer in place.

The Antique Horatio Nelson Engraving in frame is 39.25\" tall, by 30\" across, by 1\" wide. The Engraving showing thru the frame is 27-1/8\" tall, by 18\" across. The engraving has not been examined out of the frame.
