Antique English George III Copper Tea Kettle c.1800 Dovetailed Gooseneck Wood HandleDescriptionAntique English George III Period Copper Tea Kettle – Circa 1800Offered is a beautiful early hand-constructed copper tea kettle believed to date to the George III / late Georgian period, circa 1790–1820.This kettle displays several characteristics associated with early English copper kettle construction, including an extensively dovetailed/cramped copper body, a separately joined dovetailed bottom, and a hand-fabricated gooseneck spout with a visible longitudinal seam.One of its most distinctive features is the substantial shaped metal bail handle with its long wooden heat-insulating grip. The handle terminates in beautifully shaped flared mounting feet attached to the shoulder of the kettle.The kettle retains its removable domed copper lid with contrasting brass-colored finial.The overall shape and construction are closely comparable to documented English George III copper kettles dated around 1800. Specialist-market examples described as George III and dated 1800 show remarkably similar shaped handles, wooden grips, removable lids, body proportions and gooseneck spouts.
