Antique Favorite Clothes Dryer folding wooden laundry rack made by Gem Manufacturing Co. of North Girard, Pennsylvania.
This ingenious early laundry accessory mounts to a wall and opens into a fan-shaped arrangement of wooden arms for hanging clothing and linens to air dry. When not in use, the arms fold together vertically to save space. A documented matching example is marked “Favorite Clothes Dryer – Gem Mfg. Co. North Girard, PA.”
The aged wood, riveted metal mechanism and faded original branding give this one wonderful primitive farmhouse character. It could still be used if complete and securely mounted, or displayed as authentic laundry-room, farmhouse, primitive, or industrial décor.
