A beautiful matched salon suite in the Louis XVI revival style, comprising one settee (canapé) and four open-arm chairs (fauteuils), all carved from beechwood with a gilt gesso finish and upholstered in a cream/ivory silk-blend damask with woven stripe.
Hallmarks of the style throughout: carved bow-and-ribbon crest rails, rope-twist frame edges, acanthus-carved arm supports with scrolled terminals, and fluted tapered “toupie” legs — all quoting late-18th-century French neoclassical seating design.
