A beautiful and unusual antique Japanese porcelain dish by Fukagawa Seiji (深川製磁), Arita, Japan, dating to the late Meiji period, circa 1900–1910.
The dish has an exceptional asymmetrical shaped form with an openwork handle and elaborate Ko-Imari style decoration.
Richly decorated in underglaze cobalt blue, iron red and orange enamels with extensive gilt detailing. The central composition features the traditional Japanese Shō-Chiku-Bai motif of pine, bamboo and flowering plum, surrounded by intricate floral and geometric patterns.
The reverse bears the red Fukagawa Sei (深川製) mark with the historic Mount Fuji and stream emblem.
