Large Irish handmade quilted bedspread dating from the early 20th century. It comes from a cottage in the hills in the county of Navan, Ireland, a 'bottom drawer' or dowry item, harking back to the days when a woman, if widowed, was allowed to keep only these items, giving up everything else including her home.
It measures approx 207 x 200 cm, with an additional 8 cm fringe, to fit a double bed with some hangover.
In strong, bright condition with a small, light mark which the camera can't pick up and a few tiny rust marks.
