This listing is for an antique Japanese kozuka, the decorative handle/fitting traditionally used with a small utility knife (kogatana) carried with a Japanese sword.

The kozuka features an elegant Japanese landscape design depicting Mount Fuji, the sun, and flying birds on a shibuichi ground.

The scene is beautifully decorated with gold and silver inlay, creating a striking contrast against the subdued gray-brown patina of the shibuichi. Mount Fuji appears prominently at one end, while a radiant golden sun and flying birds extend across the composition.

The long horizontal arrangement creates an attractive sense of depth and movement, combining several classic Japanese motifs within the narrow format of the kozuka.
