Antique Joseph Long Lehn Lehnware Painted Wood Egg Cup Strawberry PA Folk Art:
$299.99
A charming original 19th C Pennsylvania Lehnware turned wood egg cup created by Joseph Long Lehn (1798–1892), featuring his signature salmon-orange ground with hand-painted strawberry and leaf decoration — one of the most iconic and collectible motifs in American folk art.
- Turned wooden egg cup on pedestal base
- Classic Lehn salmon/coral ground color with polychrome strawberry and leaf painting
- Scalloped wave border detail at rim in red and green
- Tiered circular base painted in red, green, and black
- Height: ~3 inches
This piece shows honest age consistent with 19th-century origin: paint loss and crazing on the base, chipping along the base edge with exposed raw wood grain, and general surface wear throughout. The painted decoration on the cup body retains strong color and clear detail — a desirable patina that speaks to authentic age and use. The base has a chip/loss along one edge visible in photos. A wonderful example of American folk art for the serious collector.
