VICTORIAN MINTON FOR BAILEY, BANKS & offerDLE DESSERT PLATEManufactured by Minton (UK) for luxury retailer Bailey, Banks & offerdle (Philadelphia). Circa 1875-1885.A superb Gilded Age bone porcelain dessert plate featuring a scalloped, gilt-rimmed edge. Part of an exclusive multi-colored "Rainbow" service. The wide border displays a rich rose-pink ground (Rose Pompadour) interrupted by three finely framed reserve cartouches. Each medallion is masterfully hand-painted with vivid, colorful exotic paradise birds perched on branches in the elegant Chinoiserie style. The central well features a highly detailed, naturalistic hand-painted study of a blooming British thistle bush among wild field grasses, accompanied by finely rendered butterflies in flight, including an English Swallowtail.Marks: The reverse features an incised Minton potter's mark near the center base.

Condition: Mint antique condition. No chips, cracks, or restorations.
