RARE ANTIQUE MUGHAL JADE FLORAL PENDANT – INDIAN ISLAMIC ART
A beautiful antique carved jade pendant, finely worked in a distinctive tapered, lobed form with an elegant floral and botanical design.
The front and reverse feature a stylized flowering plant with leaves and blossoms, surrounded by a delicately scalloped border. The piece has a soft pale celadon/olive-green jade colour, with darker natural/mineral areas providing contrast to the carved decoration.
The tapered pendant form and floral vocabulary are strongly reminiscent of the Mughal and Indo-Islamic jade carving tradition. Historic Mughal jade pendants, including haldili examples, are documented by major sale houses and can be highly collectible.
