Authentic Russian Imperial silver devotional locket (ladanka / reliquary pendant), crafted in 84 zolotnik silver (~875).
The exterior is decorated with a finely executed enameled Orthodox cross and the Cyrillic inscription “СПАСИ” (“Save / Save and Protect”), a traditional protective prayer.
The hinged locket opens to reveal a detailed icon-style image of an angel, enhanced with gilding (gold wash) — a feature typical of higher-quality Imperial religious jewelry. Inside are clear Imperial hallmarks: the 84 silver mark, maker’s initials “EV”, and an additional star control mark, all consistent with late 19th – early 20th century Russian Empire production.
This is not a simple pendant, but a true religious reliquary locket, worn for spiritual protection. Surviving examples with enameled exterior, opening construction, inner angel icon, and full Imperial marks are scarce and increasingly collectible.
