Antique Split Willow Market Basket with Wooden Handle — American Country Basket
Charming split willow market basket with a bent wooden handle, rounded body, and beautifully textured weave. Its warm golden-brown patina and irregular woven details give it the character of traditional American country basketry.
A comparable basket is illustrated on page 222 of The New and Revised Catalog of American Antiques by William C. Ketchum, Jr., identified as a split willow market basket with a wood handle from the Southeast, dating to the late 19th–early 20th century. Photos of the reference book and entry are provided for comparison.
An attractive piece for a basket collection or display in a farmhouse, country kitchen, or rustic interior. The woven underside and wooden supports add further interest to its construction.
Approximate measurements:

Handle: extends an additional 3\" above the basket
Overall height, including handle: 8\"
Length × width: 7.75\" × 6.5\"
