Up for offerding is an exceptional, largeantique English Staffordshire Pearlware pottery figurine representingFlora, the classical Roman Goddess of Flowers and Spring. Dating to the late Georgian era (circa 1810–1820), this piece is beautifully modeled after traditional Greco-Roman marble statuary (the famedFarnese Flora) which heavily inspired early English potters like Enoch Wood.Florastands gracefully on a hand-painted faux-marble and grassy mound mound base, which rests upon a crisp, square plinth. She wears classic flowing white drapery adorned with hand-enameled floral sprigs, accented by a bold yellow waist sash and green-bordered trim. Draped across her torso is a remarkably intact, individually modeled garland of colorful blossoms and textured foliage.Finishing & Marks:
True to premium period pottery, this figure isdecorated \"in the round\"with equal artistic detail painted on the reverse side. The underside features a hollow, hand-pressed interior base with a classiccentral circular kiln-vent holeto prevent explosion during firing. An antique hand-paintedbatch or painter’s mark \"33\"is visible on the inner rim flange.Dimensions:
