Stunning antique Victorian Walker & Hall folding biscuit warmer, crafted in Sheffield, England. This elaborate late-19th-century serving piece features a dramatic shell-form body mounted within an ornate silver-plated frame with figural detailing, decorative feet, and a circular carrying handle. The piece opens mechanically to reveal two beautifully gilded shell-shaped serving compartments, each accompanied by an intricate pierced folding insert. When closed, the two halves form a sculptural upright shell, making this an incredible display piece even when not in use.Originally designed for serving biscuits, buns, muffins, or similar table fare, these elaborate mechanical warmers are wonderful examples of Victorian dining culture and craftsmanship.Marked Walker & Hall to the underside/body. Based on the construction, markings, and comparable Walker & Hall examples, this piece dates to the late 19th century and is silver plate rather than sterling silver.Condition: Beautiful antique condition with age-appropriate patina, tarnishing, surface wear, and areas of plating wear consistent with its age and use. The gilded interiors retain a wonderful warm gold finish. Please review all photographs closely as they are considered part of the condition description. I have intentionally left the antique patina rather than heavily polishing the piece.A truly unusual statement piece for a collector of Victorian silver plate, English antiques, antique servingware, Sheffield silver, or decorative objects.Maker: Walker & HallOrigin: Sheffield, EnglandPeriod: Victorian / late 19th centuryMaterial: Silver plate with gilded interiorsForm: Folding shell biscuit / bun / muffin warmer
