Antique c1910 Pansy G. I\'Lang Spokane WA Portrait Photo Palace Framed For Sale

Original early 20th-century framed portrait photograph of a young woman identified on the reverse as Pansy G. I\'Lang, believed to be Pansy Geneva I\'Lang / I\'Laug (1886–1962), who lived in Spokane, Washington during this period.

The identification is particularly compelling because the original backing retains a period label from:

Main Ave. and Post St.

The Palace operated at the Main Avenue and Post Street location beginning around 1909, providing a useful lower date boundary for the framing. Based on the sitter\'s appearance, photographic style, and Spokane provenance, the portrait likely dates approximately c. 1909–1915.

The handwritten identification on the backing appears to read:

“Pansy G. I\'Lang”

Research indicates that Pansy Geneva I\'Lang was born in 1886 and was living in Spokane by the early 1900s. She married Percy C. Becher in Spokane in 1906 and was referred to contemporaneously as Pansy G. I\'Lang. Because no independently authenticated comparison portrait has yet been located, the sitter is being offered as probably / historically identified as Pansy G. I\'Lang rather than conclusively authenticated.

The photograph remains housed in its attractive narrow gilt-finished period frame with glass and original-style backing. The frame has decorative stepped molding and retains its old hanging wire. It measures approximately 3.25 x 8 inches.

Condition: Antique condition with expected age and handling wear. The frame shows scattered surface wear and age-related marks. The paper backing has wear, small tears/punctures, and aging, particularly around the hanging hardware and Palace label. Photograph itself presents very nicely behind glass with good tonal detail. Please examine all photographs closely for condition.

A particularly appealing piece of Spokane, Washington photographic and social-history ephemera, made considerably more interesting by the surviving local framing label and probable sitter identification.
