A commanding celestial figure arrives with enough presence to make a quiet shelf feel considerably less quiet. The sculpted form carries deep metallic tones with warm golden highlights, creating the appearance of aged metal while retaining the crisp detail possible in a decorative casting. Broad feathered wings sweep dramatically upward and outward, framing a circular halo behind the head. One raised hand bears a flame while the other grips a long staff crowned with a formidable spiked head. Layered armor covers the torso and legs, while folds of drapery soften the otherwise martial appearance. The sculpted base continues the imagery with curling tongues of fire surrounding the feet. Viewed from the front, side, or back, the feather work and dimensional detailing keep the piece visually active. It is bold religious décor with considerably more thunder than the average serene angel.
The statue is New and constructed of resin, finished in a convincing combination of bronze, pewter, and antique-gold tones. It measures approximately 13 inches tall, 10 inches across the wings, and about 5 inches deep, giving it an impressive silhouette without requiring an enormous footprint. The wings are individually textured with overlapping feathers, while the armor carries raised crosses, ornamental borders, and layered plates. Golden accents pick out the halo, chest ornament, flame, weapon, and portions of the clothing and base. The metallic treatment works especially well across the recessed sculpting, where darker shading adds depth and emphasizes the dimensional surface. Even the back receives substantial attention, with the sweeping wings, halo, drapery, and feather structure continuing around the figure. Apparently celestial warriors understand that turning your back on the room is no excuse for unfinished details.
Across centuries of religious and esoteric tradition, Uriel has been associated with illumination, knowledge, warning, wisdom, and the revealing of what has been hidden. His name is commonly interpreted along the lines of “God is my light” or “fire of God,” making the raised flame an especially fitting emblem. Uriel’s exact place varies among religious traditions, and artistic representations have never been confined to a single standardized form. Fire, books, scrolls, celestial authority, and guardianship nevertheless recur throughout imagery connected with him. Here the interpretation leans firmly toward the warrior guardian: wings spread, flame raised, weapon in hand, and bare feet planted amid sculpted fire. There is nothing timid about the composition. It presents enlightenment as something powerful and formidable, less a candle quietly burning in the darkness and more a warning that the darkness has officially overstayed its welcome.
