Vintage Vincent Bach Stradivarius Model 72 MLV Bb Trumpet — Elkhart, Indiana — Serial #203021
The Model 72 MLV/Vindabona is one of Bach\'s more unusual professional configurations, combining the large #72 bell with Bach\'s progressive MLV bore. The design is particularly known for a broad, dark, rich sound while retaining the response and familiarity of a piston-valve Bach. It has long been of interest to orchestral players, jazz soloists and Bach enthusiasts looking for an alternative to the ubiquitous Model 37.
Offered here is a vintage Elkhart-made Vincent Bach Stradivarius Model 72 with the desirable MLV (Vindabona) configuration, serial number 203021.
The bell is clearly engraved “Stradivarius Model 72 / Vincent Bach / Elkhart, IN U.S.A.” and the valve casing is stamped MLV above the serial number. Likely produced around 1981.
This trumpet has recently been serviced/tuned up and is in very good playing condition. All three valves operate smoothly, the springs are good, and all slides move properly. The trumpet has never been dropped to my knowledge, and the bell and overall body remain straight with no major dents or evidence of significant impact damage.
Cosmetically, this is an honest vintage instrument that has been played. The original gold/brass-colored lacquer remains attractive over much of the horn, but there is significant lacquer wear and finish loss around the valve casings and other normal hand-contact areas, along with smaller areas of surface oxidation/corrosion and normal scratches and marks from age and use. Please examine the detailed photographs carefully, as they are intended to show the condition accurately. I have not attempted to polish, refinish or otherwise cosmetically restore the instrument.
Included is a Vincent Bach Corp. 5C mouthpiece and the fitted vintage hard case shown in the photographs.
The case shows exterior wear consistent with age but remains useful for storage and transport. Case handle has old repair and is functional. Case opens smoothly but cannot be locked and has no key.
The mouthpiece receiver/leadpipe is unmarked, so I am not making a claim regarding a particular numbered leadpipe.
The Model 72 is known for its large 72 bell, while the MLV/Vindabona configuration uses Bach\'s distinctive stepped-bore concept. These vintage Elkhart MLV instruments are considerably less commonly encountered than standard Model 37 and Model 72 Stradivarius trumpets.

Condition: Used vintage instrument. Recently serviced and fully playable. All valves and slides functioning properly. Significant original lacquer wear in normal contact areas, surface oxidation/corrosion and normal age-related cosmetic wear. Please use the photographs as an important part of the condition description.
The trumpet will be carefully packed for shipment, with the instrument secured inside the case and the case securely packed inside a shipping carton.
