Back-Trailing on the Old Frontiers by William W. Cheely and H. Percy Raban collects 51 stories of notable people and events from the American West, illustrated throughout by renowned Western artist Charles M. Russell.
The stories originally appeared as a newspaper series during the early 1920s and cover a broad range of frontier personalities, expeditions, conflicts, discoveries, and episodes from Western history. Each story is accompanied by Russell’s distinctive pen-and-ink artwork.
Privately published by John Osterberg in Aurora, Colorado, in 1990. This hardcover edition was the first to collect the complete 51-story series in book form and was limited to only 500 copies. This copy is individually numbered 62.
