A handmade spirit doll created by artist Bahira, representing Chak Balam, the Red Jaguar of Mayan tradition. In ancient lore, the jaguar priestesses walked between worlds — guardians of rain, fertility, and the hidden pathways of the night.
This piece carries that same presence: the red feather headdress, the layered textiles, the turquoise shield, the beadwork, the stance of a protector. Every detail feels intentional and ceremonial.

She chose her items slowly and intentionally, keeping only what resonated with her spirit. This was one of her cherished pieces, displayed with care and preserved with respect. Now it is ready to continue its journey with someone who feels its energy.
Rainbow Bird was a longtime East West Bookstore patron, and she collected Bahira’s spirit dolls with great care.
