I am unbiased in pearl descriptions and don’t commonly make a huge deal out of pearls but these….. these are an exception. The blue color of these Akoya pearls is caused naturally by an error during Pearl cultivation, and they can not purposefully be made blue (by natural process). Blue Akoya pearls are acceptionally rare, so to find a strand that is graduated in size like this is a very exciting thing for me, because I know someone worked very hard to make this beautiful necklace, and it likely took a long time to accumulate the proper sizes, ect.
The pearls are various a little in shape, so please be sure to examine the pearls in photo as they are not perfect rounds.
The color is a gorgeous baby blue with pink undertones. The silvery lustrous glow is excellent, with a thick nacre and decent amount of blemish, nothing taking away from beauty, as these are single handedly some of the most gorgeous pearls I have ever seen. The kind you just want to stare at (and others do too!).
From a professional standpoint I want to say this is roughly one of its kind but I’m not entirely certain. There may be others but to find one of genuine origin (no irradiation, no color enhancement) would be a tough thing to do. There are many “blue akoyas” on the market but with deceptive tactics. These are the real deal.
The length of the strand is 20.25”, Matinee length. There are 76 pearls in the strand that vary in size from 4-8.5mm. The clasp just goes perfectly with the strand and if you enjoy something unique that stands out, this one is for you!! If I’ve ever been tempted to keep a strand of pearls, now is the time. However, the strand is newly restrung (unworn) and ready for a new home!
