Unusual lot of two early issues ofCAUTION!, an independently produced Richmond, Virginia art and literary zine from the late 1980s/early 1990s.
Edited and conceived byMauricio Alberto Cordero,CAUTION!featured an eclectic collection of originalartwork, poetry, fiction, photography, humor and experimental writing, much of it by young Richmond-area artists and writers.
The publication describes itself as:
“The Illiterati Magazine of Richmond”
and, on the Summer 1990 issue:
“The Post-Maudlin Magazine of Art and Literature.”

The masthead identifiesMauricio Alberto Cordero as Editor in Chief, along with additional editors and numerous contributing artists and writers.
These appear to have been genuinely grassroots, small-press publications, with a Richmond P.O. Box given for submissions and correspondence.
The original print run is unknown.I have been unable to locate other copies of either issue currently offered for sale or records of previous sales. These two copies were originally received as a gift and have remained together.
Condition:Both are in good overall vintage condition. They show normal age toning and light handling/storage wear consistent with approximately 35-year-old independently produced publications. Bindings are intact and both present nicely. Please see all photos for exact condition.
