Description
From The Faithful Aviators — Treasure Hunter Store.
WHAT YOU RECEIVE
One WWII China-theater blood chit / rescue notice, plus the simple black display frame shown, so it is ready to gift or hang. Combined shipping. Gift wrap available.
WHAT IT IS
A blood chit was the airman’s paper promise. Sewn inside or onto a flight jacket, it told Chinese troops and villagers that this foreign pilot had come to help China fight, and asked them to rescue and protect him. A reward was paid for a genuine chit turned in. Claire Chennault’s Flying Tigers carried the early silk flag version. This piece uses the later wording issued for American Air Force crews over China: under 國民政府 航空委員會.
THE TEXT
美國空軍 — American Air Force
來華助戰 — come to China to help in the war
仰我軍民 — we ask our soldiers and civilians
一體救護 — one and all, rescue and protect him
國民政府 航空委員會 — National Government, Aviation Commission
DETAILS
Compact stitched notice, about 4½ by 3¾ inches. White face with black brushed characters, perimeter stitching, tan fibrous reverse. No national flag, no red seal, no serial number.
CONDITION
Honest age wear. Face shows crazing, light soil, and edge stitch wear. Reverse is tan, fibrous, and unmarked. Characters remain readable. Not cleaned or restored. See photos.
IMPORTANT
Sold as a WWII China-theater blood chit / rescue notice of this text type. No specific pilot, unit, airfield, or battlefield provenance is claimed. This is not the large numbered silk Flying Tigers flag chit. Reproductions of blood chits exist; judge the photos. Adult collector item.
WHY IT MAKES THE GIFT
For the hard-to-buy-for person: the pilot, the veteran, the CBI or Flying Tigers reader, the history friend who already owns the usual books and models. Small enough to frame, specific enough that they will not already have one.
WHY BUY FROM THE FAITHFUL AVIATORS
Straight photos, straight condition, no invented story. Combined shipping on more than one item. Gift wrap if you are sending it on.
