A fantastic antique Victorian solid 18k gold Essex Crystal German Shepherd portrait ring, the dog dating to circa 1880, the band with hallmarks for Harriet Samuel, 1930, coming with an antique Harriet Samuel box.This incredible antique Victorian solid 18k yellow gold ring is an absolute beauty! The ring has a high domed and nicely polished Essex Crystal wonderfully carved with a super cute German Shepherd dog in a frontal pose looking directly ahead with pricked ears, the dog has a very happy look on its face and has incredible painted details down to individual hairs, light reflecting in the eyes, a wet nose and a dangling tongue all beautifully depicted with shadows throughout its contours, the crystal is bezel set in a closed back solid 18k gold setting which is set on a lovely classic 18k gold Art Deco wedding band-an incredibly charming dog portrait ring! The head is marked \'18\', the band has English hallmarks with maker\'s mark \'H.S\' for Harriet Samuel Ltd (established 1862), the crown for gold, \'18\', the Birmingham anchor and date letter \'F\' for 1930. The ring comes with an antique Harriet Samuel Ltd box. The ring XRF tests for at least 18k gold.The ring is approximately a size 6 1/4.The ring measures about 13mm across the face. The ring rises about 8mm above the finger and weighs approximately 4.75 grams.The ring is in excellent condition with all over light general wear. The Essex Crystal is undamaged and has only extremely light wear, the paint remains crisp and sharp.
