Ca. 1780 Hopf School Klingenthal Violin, Excellent Condition For Sale

Ca. 1780 Klingenthal Violin. Hopf School. There is no way to attribute it to a certain maker. I\'ve tried. There is no label. The neck block had been changed to \"modernize\" it at some point. Part of what makes this interesting is the original scroll AND neck, which it would usually have a grafted scroll, but whoever changed it over chose to work at the heel instead. This is a historical instrument, and as such has had some repairs over its life. For being nealry 250 years old, it has really faired very well.These instruments are known for a sweet and full sound. It will warm your soul when you play it. And its a very well preserved piece of music history. The Warchal Amber Strings really bring out the colorful sound of this wonderful old violin.*Old Repairs Include (shown in pics):
-Lower left rib, solid, repaired with linen as was the way back then
-Right F-hole upper, secured and repaired with belly patch done properly
-Neck set/lengthening
-Old inside back patch (can send pic). I\'m not sure why its there, as there are no cracks. Perhaps the back was too thin and the repairer added it for better sound projection.*New Repairs Include (shown in pics):
-Upper left rib, backed with thin maple veneer
-Left F-hole Lower (hard to see), secured and cleated to modern standards
-2 minor edge cracks on back, secured and cleated (cleats probably not necessary here, but I wanted extra security so as not to have to open the instrument anytime in the near future)*Trial could be arranged under certain conditions

$6,500 oboI originally bought this to restore for myself for the historical curiosity and love of the instruments. However, something else has caught my eye, and I can\'t justify both. It sounds quite nice.
